Konusu ve Detaylı Bilgi
The Windermere Children (tt10370380), an English government initiative in 1945, accepted approximately 750 children rescued from Auschwitz and Belsen; 300 of them were brought to Windermere for a rehabilitation period before finding permanent homes. In this film written by Simon Block and directed by Michael Samuels, we witness the children's arrival at Windermere, their four months of therapy, and their lives. The film begins and ends with short comments and footage from the survivors still alive today. The children silently get off the bus and are told to line up for a medical examination after taking off their clothes. "Relax," one boy says, trying to reassure another. "Relaxation kills you," comes the response. When one child is asked for his name, he instinctively shows the number tattooed on his arm. They are housed in what looks like barracks from a concentration camp, in the old factory workers' lodgings. They struggle to believe that this situation won't end in a bad way.
