The Wailing (tt5215952), a South Korean film, takes place in a tranquil mountain town where everyone knows each other. However, the peace is disrupted when an elderly Japanese man moves to the town, preferring to live alone. Shortly after the arrival of the old man, a mysterious illness begins to spread. While the townspeople suspect it is caused by the outsider, the police believe they have been poisoned by wild mushrooms. Jong-goo, a police officer leading the investigation, meets a mysterious woman named Moo-myung who provides information about the outsider. Jong-goo's daughter also falls ill with the same symptoms. Desperate to save his daughter, he entrusts her to a shaman named Il-gwan, leaving him with no choice but to unravel the mysterious events.
