Konusu ve Detaylı Bilgi
The Train(tt0059825), directed by the master filmmaker John Frankenheimer, tells the story of a crucial moment in the history of Paris during World War II. The city seems on the verge of breaking free from the control of the Nazis. Colonel Franz von Waldheim (Paul Scofield), a German officer, receives intelligence that the valuable art treasures in the Jeu de Paume museum are to be transported back to Germany by train. Railway inspector Labiche (Burt Lancaster) attempts to sabotage this operation and prevent the artworks from leaving France.
Frankenheimer insisted on using real trains and stations in the train scenes, which proved to be a wise decision. These authentic and thrilling sequences influenced many directors, as can be seen in films like Bullitt and The French Connection. The Train offers a realistic and suspenseful atmosphere, as well as a glimpse into the struggles faced by individuals fighting to protect their cultural heritage amidst the chaos of war.
