The Pianist (tt0253474), Wladyslaw Szpilman, a 27-year-old prodigious concert pianist from Poland, had a promising future ahead of him when war broke out. While playing Chopin's C minor Nocturne on the radio station, Luftwaffe bombed it. Like all Jews, he and his family were forcibly removed from their homes and sent to the Warsaw ghettos. In his new life, this talented young man starts playing in bars where black marketeers and collaborators enjoy themselves. It is one of these collaborators who saves him and his family from one of the death camp trains. Through war whispers, resistance fighters, and a surprising German officer, Szpilman manages to survive the war.
