The Ninth Gate(tt0142688): Dean Corso is a researcher who specializes in finding and acquiring old and valuable books for wealthy collectors. His job requires cultural knowledge, skill, and nerves of steel. Corso is hired by the renowned book collector Boris Balkan to track down the final book in a series that depicts Satanic rituals. According to legend, this book is a manuscript that can open the nine gates of the Kingdom of Darkness. The other two copies are located in Europe. As Corso travels from New York to Toledo and from Portugal to Paris, he encounters labyrinth-like traps and mysterious deaths. With the help of protective forces, he gradually gets closer to a much more powerful entity. Eventually, he realizes that his true mission is something far beyond simply finding a book.
