Mesmerized by the girl's beauty, Logan stares at the photo when his unit comes under attack. As the only survivor, Logan believes that he owes his life to the girl in the photo. Unable to locate the owner of the photo, he assumes that she must have been killed. Upon returning to America, Logan struggles to adjust to civilian life as he can't forget what he experienced in Iraq. One day, while examining the photo, he notices a clue in the background indicating that the girl is in Louisiana. He travels there and finds the girl, whose name is Beth. Logan tries to explain what happened to Beth, but he can't find the right words. Beth, who runs a dog kennel with her family, mistakes Logan for a job applicant. Logan goes along with it and pretends to apply for the job, making Beth uneasy. Despite this, Beth's grandmother decides to give Logan a chance. Logan bonds well with Beth's son. Soon, he realizes that Beth's deceased brother is the owner of the photo. The loss of her brother has deeply affected Beth. Gradually, the two of them become closer, much to the delight of Beth's grandmother. However, Beth's ex-husband, who is also the sheriff, constantly threatens to take their son away from her.
