Simba, the young lion born in the depths of the wild Africa, embarks on a battle for the throne against his ambitious enemies, in a story woven with powerful friendships and betrayals among animals, brought to audiences once again through Walt Disney. Disney's beloved lion sets off on a coming-of-age journey adorned with important themes such as justice and self-discovery. Simba, a happy young lion idolizing his father Mufasa, the king of the jungle, is unaware of his cunning uncle Scar's plans. Scar, who is waiting for an opportunity to become king, poses a threat to Simba after killing Mufasa. Devastated by his uncle's betrayal and the loss of his father, Simba goes into exile. When the time comes, he will return to claim what is rightfully his and make his uncle pay for his actions... This new adaptation follows the story of the 1994 Disney animated classic, The Lion King, while also paying a beautiful tribute to the original. The iconic character of Simba's brave father, Mufasa, is once again voiced by the talented actor James Earl Jones, who also voiced the character in the original film. The voice cast includes the successful actor and musician Donald Glover as Simba, Oscar-nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor as the villainous Scar, comedian and actor Keegan-Michael Key as the hyena Kamari, Seth Rogen as the warthog Pumbaa, actor Billy Eichner as the meerkat Timon, and pop star Beyoncé as Nala, the lioness Simba falls in love with. Disney collaborates with director Jon Favreau, known for his work on "The Jungle Book," to bring this new adaptation of "The Lion King" to life. Jon Favreau, known as Happy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has previously directed "Iron Man" and "Iron Man 2." The screenplay is written by BAFTA-nominated Jeff Nathanson. - Submitted by: Quaresmania
