The Exorcist (tt0070047), Chris MacNeil lives with her twelve-year-old daughter Regan in their home in Georgetown. Chris, who is divorced from her husband, plans a party for Regan's birthday. However, during the birthday party, Regan begins to exhibit erratic behavior, leading Chris to suspect that her daughter may have fallen ill. Regan is taken to multiple doctors and undergoes several treatments, but none of the doctors can provide a definitive diagnosis or cure. As time passes, Regan's demonic actions become increasingly alarming. Unable to find a solution, the doctors suggest to Chris that she find a priest capable of performing an exorcism. Despite not being religious, Chris's fears escalate after her friend Burke Dennings is found dead with a broken neck, having been thrown out of Regan's bedroom window. Desperate for help, Chris turns to Father Damien Karras.
