Andie, a melancholic girl living with her disillusioned father Jack in the 80s. She attends a high school where both wealthy kids and working-class students go together. Andie, with her unique wardrobe dominated by pink colors, works at a record store called Trax after school. The store is run by Iona, a quirky and single woman in her thirties, who is not only Andie's closest friend but also a sort of mother figure to her. Another significant figure in Andie's life is her childhood friend Duckie, who is hopelessly in love with her. Duckie is a proud loser, with his distinctive outfits and anarchist attitudes, he is both a proud loser and a lonely outcast mocked at school. However, Andie's heart seems to belong to the arrogant rich kid at school, Steff, but his arrogance always keeps her at a distance. Things get even more complicated for Andie when a prince charming named Blane suddenly appears in the tense American high school atmosphere, with the school dance approaching.
