Fathers' Day (tt0119109), Scott, Colette's son, runs away from home and Colette comes up with a brilliant idea. She calls Jack Lawrence, whom she had a relationship with 16 years ago, and Dale Putley, whom she had a relationship with 17 years ago, and tells them that they are both Scott's fathers. Unable to say no to finding their supposed son, the two ex-lovers set off on a journey. Since Scott is already 16 years old, neither of the men suspects the fatherhood claim. Jack, who has a good job, a wife, a beautiful house, and an expensive car, initially doesn't want to disrupt his stable life, but his conscience won't leave him alone and he leaves Los Angeles. When he meets Dale, an aspiring writer living a life of hopelessness and loneliness in San Francisco, things get complicated. When Jack tells Dale that he is searching for his lost son, Dale can't hide his shock and reveals that he is also looking for his son. It won't take long for the two men to realize that they are both looking for the same child and they continue their journey together. Along the way, Jack and Dale encounter many comedic incidents while tracking Scott, who is traveling from city to city with a rock band.
