Asif Kapadia, the acclaimed director of Senna and Amy, once again mesmerizes with his new film Diego Maradona. The film chronicles the life of the legendary football player Diego Armando Maradona, who was the eternal owner of the number 10 jersey. Starting from his humble beginnings in the slums of Argentina to his rise to the pinnacle of the world, the film primarily focuses on his years at Napoli. Diego Maradona presents a neutral and unbiased portrayal of this iconic figure, who couldn't escape the scrutiny of the media due to his drug addiction and various off-field scandals. Despite his struggles, Maradona always managed to rise again, making him a resilient and tenacious icon. With the approval of the Argentinean sports legend himself, the film is crafted from over 500 hours of previously unseen footage and made its debut at Cannes.
